Set out water and food bowls, the confirmed transition food, a properly fitted collar and leash, identification, cleanup supplies, grooming basics, and durable age-appropriate toys.

Select a veterinarian and a qualified reward-based trainer before homecoming. Bring the puppy's records to the first veterinary visit and follow the veterinarian's guidance for that individual puppy.

Food and records
Avoid changing everything at once
Confirm the transition food, meal schedule, veterinary records, identification information, and any written handoff instructions before pickup or delivery.
Ask a veterinarian before changing feeding, supplements, exercise, parasite prevention, or vaccination plans. Keep copies of the information that applies to the individual puppy.
