A title is a record of a specific evaluation
IGP, BH/VT, and ZTP are abbreviations connected to different trial or evaluation systems. They are not interchangeable labels, and a title should be read together with the dog's name, the organization, the level or result, and the date shown on the record.
The exact rules can change. If a title matters to your decision, ask the breeder for the original record or a verifiable result and confirm its meaning with the organization that issued it.
IGP: an international utility-dog trial
IGP is the FCI's international utility-dog trial framework. Its regulations describe tracking, obedience, and protection work, with different levels and requirements. The letters beside a dog's name may include a level or other qualification, so do not assume that the short label alone tells you which exercises were completed or the score earned.
Ask what level the dog passed, where the trial was held, who judged it, and whether a scorebook or official result is available. A title is evidence of performance under a particular rule set. It does not predict exactly how the dog will behave in a home or with a new handler.
BH/VT: companion-dog and traffic-safety testing
FCI BH/VT refers to a companion-dog trial with a behavior and traffic portion. The FCI rules describe an obedience section and an examination in a public environment. National organizations may set details such as minimum age and implementation. Check the actual record and the rules that applied when the dog took the test.
BH/VT is not the same as a protection title. Ask the breeder to explain the specific credential instead of treating every working-dog abbreviation as evidence of the same skill.
ZTP: an ADRK breeding-suitability evaluation
The ADRK's Zuchttauglichkeitsprüfung, usually shortened to ZTP, is a Rottweiler breeding-suitability evaluation under ADRK rules. The club's published regulations describe its purpose and the conditions for recognizing an evaluation. It is distinct from an IGP sport title and should be verified with the ADRK record or the issuing body.
A ZTP result documents an evaluation under that system. It does not guarantee the health or behavior of every future puppy. Ask for the dog's identity and original documentation, and clarify whether the record is from the ADRK or another organization using similar words.
Questions to ask about a listed title
- Which organization awarded or recorded it?
- What is the exact title, level, date, and result?
- Can I review the original record or a verifiable scorebook entry?
- Which rulebook applied at the time?
- Is the title being presented as an achievement of this dog or an ancestor?
Snubnose dog profiles identify the title information approved for each individual dog. Review the relevant male Rottweiler profiles and female Rottweiler profiles and ask Marc if you need help understanding a specific record. A title is one piece of information to consider alongside health records, daily behavior, training, and your household's needs.
